Formula SAE is a student design competition, organized by SAE International. Born in 1981 and arrived in Europe in the early 2000s, in 2005 ATA (Associazione Tecnica dell'Autoveicolo) organize the first edition of Formula SAE Italy and Formula Electric and Hybrid Italy (turned into Formula Electric Italy in 2011) which took place in the FIAT Auto Circuit. In 2017 Formula Student Germany introduced a new class of the competition dedicated to the autonomous vehicles; In 2018 also Formula SAE Italy & Formula Electric Italy, Formula Student UK and Formula East have introduced a driverless competition.
Fast Charge is the Formula SAE team of the Università La Sapienza. Born in 2013, the team participates in competitions with rear-wheel drive electric prototypes and it's supported by many sponsors like RS Components, Enel and Volkswagen.
No, Fast Charge does recruits students from all universities and any course of study: The only real requirement is the passion and the desire to put yourself out there.
During the competitions, the organized events are divided into two categories: The Static Events, with the Design event (Presentation of the complete project), the Businnes Event (Simulation of the presentation of the project in front of potential sponsors) and the Cost Event (Analysis of the cost report) and the Dynamic Events, with the Acceleration test, Skid Pad test, Autocross and Endurance test.
All the events of the Formula SAE are open to university students; By regulation, all the teams are composed exclusively of students and they must provide for the development and implementation of prototypes, following the rules of the Formula SAE
